Sound, evidence-based decision making is driven by information. More importantly, information is a key building block for building knowledge. Corporate knowledge is a critical resource which often not fully recognized and rarely effectively protected or secured. Information, comprised of structured and unstructured data, is an enterprise asset that needs to be properly managed and cared for.
Tom Peters wrote in 2001 that “Organizations that do not understand the overwhelming importance of managing data and information as tangible assets in the new economy will not survive.” Over ten years later, with the advent of open data, data interoperability, social media, and the growth of handheld computer and multimedia devices, the need to recognize the importance of data and information has never been greater.
Scott has worked with a number of clients to identify and address their data and information management requirements, often as part of larger performance management initiatives. Scott is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Chapter of the Data Management Association (DAMA) International.
